Over the last few weeks we’ve talked about confronting the lies we believe and the messages we’ve played over and over again on the old tapes in our minds. But what’s next? After confronting the lies and old recordings, where do you go from there?
The answer is Wisdom.
The ways of wisdom are sweet, always drawing you into the place of wholeness. Seeking for her brings the discovery of untold blessings, for she is the healing tree of life to those who taste her fruits.” Proverbs 3:17-18 (tPt)
Without the wisdom of the Lord it is impossible to know wholeness and discover our true identity.
We need to rebuke the lies and confront our ungodly beliefs, but after doing so, we need to seek wisdom and ask God to fill those places in our lives with His truth.
When wisdom wins your heart and revelation breaks in, true pleasure enters your soul.” Proverbs 2:10 (tPt)
You have lived a life plagued by ungodly beliefs and lies for far too long, it is time for you to break free and experience the true pleasure of God’s presence. It’s time for you to experience the richness and fullness of life that He has had planned for you, from the time you were in your mother’s womb. It’s your time to break free!
But how do you get wisdom? You simply have to ask, and listen.
The one who always listens to me will live undisturbed in a heavenly peace. Free from fear, confident and courageous, you will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life.” Proverbs 1:33 (tPt)
If you ask the Lord for wisdom, He will give it to you, but you have to use discernment to listen and know when it is the Lord speaking. The enemy is not just going to walk away because you’ve decided to ask for wisdom and truth, instead of listening to his constant lies, you better believe he’s going to go to battle over you.
Lucky for us, who know Christ, when we seek wisdom He becomes our personal bodyguard (Prov 2:8) so even though there is a battle raging over our minds, and thoughts, if we use discernment and believe the wisdom and truth He’s speaking, He will protect us from the enemy’s schemes.
But you have to choose because you can’t believe both the enemy and the Lord, so which one are you going to allow to reign and rule in your thoughts? It might be hard at first, as you allow the Lord to retrain your thoughts but Proverbs also tells us to “never be upset when He corrects you [because His discipline] only comes from His passionate love and pleasure for you.” (3:11)
We have to remember that He’s not correcting our thoughts because He wants to strip us of who we’ve become, but because He wants to strip away the lies in order for us to truly become who we were meant to be!
When we ask for wisdom and seek truth, the more we believe God’s words, the more fullness we will see in our lives, the more healed we will become, the more joy we will experience, the more blessings we will see happening in our lives!
Those who find true wisdom obtain the tools for understanding, the proper way to live, for they will have a fountain of blessings pouring into their lives. To gain the riches of wisdom is far greater than gaining the wealth of the world.” Proverbs 3:13 (tPt)
Nothing the enemy could ever offer us could compare to the wisdom of the Lord and the “fountain of blessings” that comes with it. When you look at it like that, it seems hard to believe that so many of us hold on so tightly to our ungodly beliefs, why is that?
It’s because we don’t know any better. It’s because the enemy is the great deceiver and he’s convinced us there isn’t a better way. It’s because we don’t believe we are worthy of God’s blessings. It’s because we are afraid of what wisdom will tell us and what we’ll have to give up when she speaks. And it’s because we don’t really believe in the goodness of God.
But the time has come to say “NO” to the enemy and to seek wisdom. Trust me, a life without wisdom is just not worth it. As you dive deeper and deeper in to Proverbs you will see that a life without wisdom will lead you to places you don’t want to go. The enemy isn’t going to give up until he has destroyed your belief that God is good, and without truth you will follow him blindly to situations and losses you never thought you’d experience.
The alternative is so much greater so let’s ask the Lord for wisdom, let’s seek truth and let’s live the full, rewarding life that God has promised us when we seek Him!
Let your life be shaped by integrity, with truth written upon your heart. Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore Him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong – for then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.” Proverbs 2:3,5-8 (tPt)
