The Lies we Believe: Taking back Authority

Last week I talked about the need to rid ourselves of the ungodly beliefs we are believing about ourselves. (If you missed it, read it HERE) Satan knows our weaknesses and he’s just waiting to take advantage of them but if we truly know who we are in the Lord, his lies won’t ever settle in and become our ungodly beliefs.

The need to rid ourselves of the lies, and arm ourselves with the truth, is becoming more and more evident to me. It’s like I’ve always sort of known that was the case but God suddenly decided to pull the curtain back, off my eyes, so I can see how everything in our lives really boils down to this one thing – our need to know our true identity in Him.

Because Satan is the prince of this world (John 12:31) and the father of lies (John 8:44), he has done a good job meddling with all of us, convincing us of things that aren’t true, convincing us of things that aren’t true about each other, and really distracting us from the one thing we all so desperately need – the truth.

I know I touched on identity in the last post but I wanted to recap some of those verses because every single one of us struggles with insecurity – in one form or another – because we have been lied to about our true identity. The more we read truth, the more real it becomes to us, so I want to remind you of what God has to say about who YOU are –

As you serve Him, be glad and worship Him. Sing your way into His presence with joy! And realize what this really means – we have the privilege of worshiping the Lord, our God. For He is our Creator and now we belong to Him! We are the people of His pleasure. For the Lord is always good and ready to receive you. He’s so loving that it will amaze you – so kind that it will astound you!” Psalm 100:2-3,5 (tPt)

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

“We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him who is true by being in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” 1 John 5:19-20 (NIV)

When we believe ungodly beliefs about ourselves, we are giving our authority in Christ, over to the enemy. We are giving him permission to speak to us about “who we are” but this practice is killing us. We are a broken, lost, wandering people because we have given the enemy full permission and authority to speak lies to us.

Your feelings of oppression don’t come from the Lord, I know it’s easy to blame Him because we feel like if He really was a loving God then He wouldn’t allow us to feel this way, but that’s not truth. Your oppression comes from the enemy because, by believing his lies, you have given him authority in your life.

We have to stop! Now that you know the truth about who you really are, you need to take back the authority that was given to you through Christ! In Romans, Paul tells us we need to use wisdom to know what is good and what is evil. We need to cry out to the Lord to give us wisdom and discernment so we can take back our authority! The good news is that we don’t have to do it on our own because God is with us.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” Romans 16:19-21 (NIV)

“He is my Champion Defender; there’s not risk of failure with God.” Psalm 62:2 (tPt)

“Through Christ we have been given all authority over the rulers of this earth.” Colossians 2:10 (NIV)

I know it is easy to succumb to the lies of the enemy because he’s very loud and repetitive but if we truly want to find freedom we need to start listening to that “still small voice” in our minds that tells us the truth.

You matter.

You are loved.

You are worthy.

Shame is not yours to carry.

Let me take your burden.

If you are willing to stand up to the enemy and take back the authority that is rightfully yours, through Christ, Psalm 91 tells us we don’t need to fear!

Whether by night or by day, demonic danger will not trouble you, nor will the powers of evil launched against you. For God will keep you safe and secure; they won’t lay a hand on you! When we live our lives within the shadow of the God Most High, our secret Hiding Place, we will always be shielded from harm!” Psalm 91:6, 9 (tPt)

There is a war raging over each one of you. You all matter to the Lord, because you are His beloved children, so the enemy has put a target on each one of you. He knows that the easiest way to hurt the Lord is to hurt His children (as a parent, wouldn’t you agree?), but God is on our side! He’s waiting for you to run to His “secret Hiding Place” so He can “shield you from harm”.

Take back your authority by telling Satan “no”. “No” I will not believe the lies anymore because that is not who I am. “No”, I refuse to believe that about myself. “No”, that is not who I am, and speak scripture back to him to remind him of who you are, just like Jesus did when He met Satan face to face in the dessert (Matthew 4:1-11). Telling the enemy “no” and using scripture to defeat each and every lie Satan threw at Him, is exactly what He did, and exactly what we need to do.

Remind the enemy of the truth – that God has all authority over Heaven and Earth and the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, lives in YOU. You are a forced to be reckoned with, which is why Satan is after you, but you have authority over him, so tell him to get out of your head and go back where he came from.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you and just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” Romans 8:11 (NLT)

“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:4-5 (NIV)

Take back your authority by telling Satan "no"! Remind him of the truth – that God has all authority over Heaven and Earth and the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, lives in YOU. | Faith-Fullness.net

God doesn’t want His children to be under the influence of anything other than His Spirit! He wants you to know, you can push out of the box you feel trapped in. He wants you to know you can stop acting like everything is okay, and you can get freedom. Freedom is free, but the box you’re in, is costing you something. | Faith-Fullness.net

It’s this beautiful girl’s birthday today and It’s this beautiful girl’s birthday today and I couldn’t be more proud of who she has grown into these last 12 years. My favorite thing about her, is her heart; believe it or not, she’s even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside. She loves hard, gives generously, champions her friends and encourages effortlessly. She is someone I admire, and watching her, continually challenges me to be a better person. We love you Malea Elizabeth. Happy 12th birthday! 🥳💜🤗
I love Thanksgiving. 🦃 Even in this chaotic, I love Thanksgiving.

Even in this chaotic, pandemic year, we still have so much to be thankful for. Yesterday we spent the day with family, did our own 2 mile Turkey Trot, cooked all day, and then feasted all night.

I’m thankful for our home, and that we got to host our first Thanksgiving there, I’m thankful for our health and I’m thankful that we have so much to be thankful for. Blessings to you and your family this holiday weekend.💛

He’s the latest addition to our family after @mmoseley15 texted me a picture of 5 kittens found at the bank this morning (scroll to the end to see). Malea is in love, and total shock, and we’ve all had lots of kitten snuggles today. The plan is to have him me an outdoor, eat the pests, kind of cat but we’ll see how snuggly he ends up being. He might just win us over and be our new favorite. #MavericktheKitten
First day of 7th grade! I am excited for Malea to First day of 7th grade! I am excited for Malea to be back at school today but I am also going to miss her. These past six months have been such a blessing from the Lord. There were definitely days we both needed our space but the majority of the time we learned and grew so much from each other, and laughed along the way. I am proud of the young woman she is becoming and I can’t wait to see how much more she grows this year.

Happy first day of school!!! (We’ll see how long it lasts).

I love the sounds, the constant crashing of the waves, my feet in the sand, watching kids be kids and running in the waves, I love everything about being at the ocean. Our first night in Trinidad was awesome, we played at the beach, saw a gorgeous sunset, celebrated a birthday, watched part of a movie, then had mom and dad time by the fire. Trailer life, mixed with ocean life, really is the best.

My happy place. We love our trailer but once a yea My happy place. We love our trailer but once a year we pack up the tent and head up to the Trinity Alps for a fun filled weekend. The last 3 days were spent unplugged, laughing harder than I have in a long time, floating in Canyon Creek with a drink in hand, hiking 8 miles to jump off a waterfall, watching the kids tube down the rapids for hours, eating amazing camp food, and generally just being so thankful God created such a beautiful place for us to enjoy. I’ve always loved camping at this spot but this year I decided it’s my happy place because every year I look forward to our few days there, our escape from reality, our peaceful slice of Heaven that we get to enjoy with friends.

The last two days of our trip were spent with my s The last two days of our trip were spent with my sister, and her family, in Truckee, CA. It was two great days of relaxing, cousin playtime, kitten snuggles/playing, ripsticking down big hills, lounging on Donner Lake, the girl’s paddle boarding and kayaking, and of course life lessons like - how to blow up your own floaty, and how to chug champagne when you’re wearing a mask😆. We are headed home today but after 2 weeks of traveling I’m not quite ready for it to end, with the exception of Boulder City, this trip has been near perfection. Now to plan, and look forward to, next summer’s big trailer trip!!! #truckeecalifornia #donnerlake #moseleyrvtrip2020
Day 10 - Bodie. Before leaving Bridgeport we heade Day 10 - Bodie. Before leaving Bridgeport we headed over to Bodie, a huge ghost town where homes, hotels, stores, and even the school have everything left in them, just as they were back in the early 1900’s. This was such a cool experience to step back in time and walk through this old mining town.

Day 9 - Bridgeport. This place has so much beauty! Day 9 - Bridgeport. This place has so much beauty! The girls played on the beach at the RV park this morning, @mmoseley15 went on a trail run, we spent a couple hours on the beaches of Twin Lakes, which is definitely one of the most stunning places we’ve been so far, then we finished off the afternoon with the girls playing in the water back at the RV park. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this place before, this is definitely a “must come back to” stop for us! #bridgeportcalifornia #moseleyrvtrip2020.
Day 8 - More from Bridgeport. I know I posted some Day 8 - More from Bridgeport. I know I posted some yesterday but I had to share these too. This place is so beautiful!

Day 8 - Bridgeport. We got up early and headed out Day 8 - Bridgeport. We got up early and headed out of Beatty before it could get over 90. We spent 4 hours on the road today, which was our longest since day 2, but it was so beautiful! NV to CA, back to NV, then landing in CA. We saw everything from the “Loneliest Highway”, to a bull in the middle of the road, some of the highest mountain peaks of the trip, to the stunning Lake Mead. The trip went by quickly because the views were incredible and the girls were amazing. And when we pulled into Bridgeport, it did not disappoint. 30 degrees cooler than Boulder City, incredible views of the mountains, warm swimming water for the girls, and a beautiful thunderstorm. We are looking forward to a full day of relaxing, swimming, and maybe even boating here tomorrow. And the best part is, the high is supposed to be 85 degrees. 🙌🏻
#bridgeportcalifornia #moseleyrvtrip2020
Day 7 - Beatty. This day started out as a HUGE bum Day 7 - Beatty. This day started out as a HUGE bummer. We woke up in our air conditioned hotel, only to find out that someone had stolen @mmoseley15’s mountain bike out of the back of our truck. I don’t know if you’ve ever had something stolen but it feels so violating to have your stuff taken, not to mention the cost to recoup such an expensive item. 😭 So with heavy hearts we got ready then walked down the street to have a delicious breakfast at the famous @theworldfamouscoffeecup. From there we packed up and drove to the middle of nowhere, Beatty, Nevada. Our RV park was great but still being 109, the trailer struggled. Fortunately the girls did amazing and hardly complained about the heat, instead they spent the day inside playing games and putting together puzzles. The highlight of the day was getting to visit the ghost town, Rhyolite. I’ve always wanted to visit a ghost town so even though it was hot, it was super cool.
